Smooth Vanilla HD does not try to turn Minecraft into a different game. It keeps vanilla's familiar colors, shapes, and charm, then refines blocks and major mobs into clean 256x textures that hold up beautifully at close range.
From a distance it still feels unmistakably like Minecraft. Up close—and especially with shaders—you can finally see the softer edges, layered color, and added depth.
Version 1.1 cuts the recommended Core download from 213 MB to 83 MB: about 61% smaller, with no visual loss in the textures that remain.
Items, GUI, fonts, sky, sun, moon, and clouds stay vanilla. Instead of making you download redundant copies, the Core pack focuses only on the textures that meaningfully change your world.
This is the recommended download. It contains the smooth block textures, major mobs, and animated textures.
The optional add-on includes 679 LabPBR normal and specular maps for compatible shaders, adding visible surface depth and material response to supported blocks.
Enable both packs, then place the PBR Add-on above Core in the resource-pack list.
When using Fresh Animations 1.10.5, place Smooth Vanilla HD Core above Fresh Animations. This keeps Fresh Animations' models and movement while prioritizing this pack's supported high-resolution mob textures.
The textures are produced locally from Minecraft's original artwork with edge-aware processing that preserves color relationships and recognizable forms. Generative AI is not used to create the texture artwork, screenshots, or public icon.
